A 37-year veteran of the solar industry, Theresa (Terry) jester has served Silicor Materials as CEO since 2011. Terry joined the Silicor in 2010 following her active involvement in the company as entrepreneur in residence at Hudson Clean Energy and has extensive leadership experience in the manufacturing and engineering of photovoltaics, having directed large solar operations and held management positions at SoloPower, SunPower, SolarWorld, Siemens, Arco and Shell.
Terry is passionate about the evolution of solar manufacturing towards a more cost-efficient, environmentally-friendly model. As CEO of Silicor, Terry is currently spearheading the financing and siting of the company’s first large scale commercial facility, which will produce solar grade silicon using a proprietary metals-based process. Under Terry’s leadership, Silicor attained the second largest venture capital raise in the solar industry in 2015 ($105M). Silicor’s one-of-a-kind carbon neutral facility, located in Iceland, will rely on renewable geothermal and hydropower for much of its electricity. The plant is slated to open in late 2018, and will capture 5% of the global silicon market at full production.
