Dr. Stephen Jascourt serves as Senior Scientist for Weather Services at MDA Information Systems, LLC, where he created the MDA solar energy forecasting system based on first principles, innovatively utilizing a large volume of research-quality observations worldwide. Dr. Jascourt contributes to a variety of other projects at MDA, bridging between the latest developments in research and weather forecasting and the end-user application.
Previously, he worked for the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research COMET Program developing and delivering training for weather forecasters to demystify the complex calculations behind computer weather models, enabling forecasters to better understand and apply the myriad of guidance available. He earned a B.S. in Atmospheric and Oceanic Science at the University of Michigan and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His house features an 8.85 kW PV system with power optimizers.
