Jake Rada is a graduate student at Humboldt State University (HSU) pursing a Master’s Degree in the Energy Resource Engineering program. His professional interests and master’s thesis are centered on solar energy with an emphasis on optimization of solar PV system performance through analysis of array orientation and system level efficiency. Jake earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Auburn University and moved to California to pursue higher education and a career in the solar energy field. At HSU, he is working with the Schatz Energy Research Center on a renewable energy microgrid project at the Blue Lake Rancheria (BLR). This 1 MW microgrid will provide clean power to BLR, which is an emergency evacuation center for the American Red Cross. Jake is excited to complete his Master’s Degree and begin a professional career focused on delivering clean and affordable energy using solar technologies.
