Biography

Erica Helson leads Sustainable CUNY’s NYSolar Smart Distributed Generation (DG) Hub, a 3-year effort supported by the U.S. Department of Energy to establish a path to greater resiliency in New York’s energy infrastructure through solar and storage. As an ombudsman, Erica engages stakeholders across the public sector and solar and energy storage industries through working groups that focus on reducing the technological, regulatory and financial barriers to the resilient PV market. Prior to joining Sustainable CUNY, Erica supported NYSERDA’s Commercial and Industrial energy efficiency incentive programs, and worked as a project manager for a solar installer in California. She also gained an understanding of disaster recovery and the need for emergency power at the American Red Cross, where she managed the Los Angeles Chapter’s disaster preparedness program, and supported relief efforts for local and national disasters.
