MSc Cortés received the Engineer and MSc degrees in mechanical engineering at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC), in 2012. He is currently Researcher at the Solar Electricity research Line at the Fraunhofer Chile Research Center for Solar Energy Technologies. Before this, he was Project Engineer in the Solar Energy Area at DICTUC (a subsidiary Company of PUC) and Assistant Researcher of the PUC. His experience includes solar energy resource assessment by field measurements of solar irradiance and satellite estimation. In particular, he worked on the development of Chile-SR model, a satellite estimation model for Chile, and he is one of the Atlas Solar de Chile’s authors, a publication developed in collaboration with two chilean government institutions (Dirección Meteorológica de Chile and Instituto Geográfico Militar). Additionally, he has worked in projects of industrial process solar heat and simulations for different solar technologies.
