Akinloluwa Olumoroti, M.S, PMP is a physicist by training and an energy enthusiast by passion. He has been admitted into the department of Earth and Environmental Engineering at Columbia University where he hopes to do some research in sustainable energy and some policy work at the School of International and Public Affairs. After a brief stint in the telecommunications industry, he contracted for the ride-sharing company Uber as a driver after which he decided to turn his attention to emerging renewable energy technologies and policy. He is deeply fascinated by the intersection and interplay of seemingly unrelated disciplines and he pays attention to subtle cultural changes in business, energy, science and advertising. He doesn’t think Uber and Airbnb are anomalies in the way a lot of people tend to view them. He thinks they’re just a preview of what’s to come. The title of his presentation is Uber-Like Disruption in Renewable Energy Technologies: Possibility or Wishful thinking.
